ST PAUL, Minn. - The Nichols College women's hockey team dropped their first game of the new-year to Marian at the Bethel University Showcase in St. Paul, Minnesota on Friday night. The bison fall to 2-9 (1-6 CCC), while Marian picks up their first win of the campaign.

After a scoreless first period, Marian opened the scoring with a goal 3:16 into the second. Marian wasted no time in making it a two-goal game, finding the back of the net again just a minute later. Nichols found themselves on the power-play twice in the second period but failed to convert both times.

Isabella Portt assisted by
Grace Melanson The goal wasÂ
Portt's 4
th of the season, tying her for the team lead.
Melanson picked up her 3
rd assist of the year to give her a team-leading 7 points. Nichols went on the power-play once again in the third but failed to capitalize.

Marian was able to keep Nichols off the scoreboard for the rest of the third period, sealing a 2-1 victory.

Victoria Bakopanos tallied 29 saves on the night for the Bison.

Nichols will look to bounce-back tomorrow night in Minnesota as they take on Concordia Wisconsin at 2 p.m. eastern.
