DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols Women's basketball team lost a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup with Western New England by the score of 86-44. The Bison fall to 2-7, including 1-3 in CCC play while the Golden Bears record improves to 5-6 (3-1 CCC).
Western New England came out hot in the first quarter as they led 22-12 after one. The Bears used their size to their advantage and dominated the glass, coming down with 11 first quarter offensive rebounds.
Western New England continued to stay in control in the second quarter as they took a 42-19 lead heading into the half. They held Nichols to 17% shooting in the first half, while out rebounding them 36-16.
The Golden Bears cruised the rest of the way, eventually winning by 42.
Abrianna Vazquez led the way for the Bison with 14 points.
Alyvia Smith pitched in With 9 points.
Nichols is back in action on Thursday at 5:30 as they head to Boston, Mass. to take on Suffolk in a CCC conference showdown.
