Boston, Mass.- The Nichols College women's basketball team lost a back-and-forth Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle with the Suffolk University Rams on Thursday night in Boston. The Bison fell to 2-8, 1-4 in the CCC, on the season, while Suffolk improved their record to 7-4 (3-2 CCC).

Nichols came out of the gate hot in the first quarter, putting up 27 points, including 5 three pointers.Â
Leandra Ortiz led the way in the quarter with 8 points on 3-4 shooting to help Nichols take a 6-point lead after one. Suffolk would battle back in the second quarter to pull within one point at the half.Â

Kiera Fernandes led the scoring for the Bison in the first half with 13 and 11 points.

The Rams turned in a strong defensive performance in the second half as they held Nichols to just 14% shooting, to help secure the win by the final score of 72-63.

Fernandes led the way with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Bison.
Abrianna Vazquez finished the game with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for Nichols.

The Bison are back in action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they take a trip to Biddeford, Maine to square off against University of New England in CCC play.
