HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols men's hockey team had no answer for the offensive attack of the visiting Salve Regina Seahawks in a 9-2 loss to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foes on Saturday evening at Levy Rink. With the loss, the Bison fell to 6-12-0 (2-12-0 CCC) while Salve Regina climbed to 9-6-1 (7-4-1 CCC).
Nichols would erase an early deficit with a powerplay goal coming off the stick of
Conor Leonard at 7:46 of the first period. The visitors would go on to score two goals to lead 3-1 at the first intermission. Goaltender
Tyler Bost made 15 saves in the opening frame for the Bison.
Nichols would cut the Salve lead to 3-2 when
Hunter Fraser netted a powerplay goal 2:30 into the second.
The Seahawks would go on to six unanswered goals to pull away from the hosts for their seventh CCC victory of the campaign.
Both teams will complete the weekend series in a Sunday afternoon showdown at the St. George's School Ice Rink at 4 p.m.
