Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – In the only Division III hockey game of the day, the Nichols men's hockey team dropped a 6-3 decision to Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Sunday afternoon at the St. George's School Ice Rink. With the win, the Seahawks swept the weekend series and advanced to 10-7-1 (8-6-1 CCC) while Nichols dropped to 6-13-0 (2-13-0 CCC).
 
Salve Regina opened the scoring with five first-period goals, two of which coming off the stick of Johnny Mulera, to take a 5-0 lead at the intermission.
 
The Seahawks added a goal in the second period as Logan Calder beat Mathias Backstrom with 8:01 to play in the frame to increase the lead to six.
 
Nichols would put three goals past Anthony Tufo in the third to cut the lead in half, but the comeback bid would be too little too late.
 
The Bison return to CCC play in a road matchup with Wentworth on Friday, February 3 at the Allied Veterans Memorial Rink with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
