DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols College women's basketball team dropped a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game at home on Saturday afternoon to Gordon College by the score of 96-63. With the loss, Nichols falls to 4-12 (3-7 CCC) on the season, while Gordon improves their record to 8-9 (6-4 CCC).

Gordon came out of the gate strong, taking a 27-13 lead into the second quarter. The Gordon defense held the Bison to just 25% shooting in the first quarter.

With 7:08 left to play in the second quarter, junior guard
Abrianna Vazquez drove to the basket and laid it in to make it a 29-20 game. With these two points, Vazquez became only the 13
th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark in a career.

Nichols trailed by 14 at the half after an even second quarter. Gordon would begin to pull away in the second half, stretching the advantage to 23 at the end of the third quarter. Another strong fourth quarter by Gordon gave them a 33-point victory.

Vazquez finished the game with a team-high 20 points.
Kiera Fernandes chipped in with 14 of her own.

Nichols looks to get back into the win column on Tuesday, January 24 when they take on Curry College at home at 5:30 p.m.
