Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Comeback Bid Falls Short for Women’s Hockey at Curry

CANTON, Mass. – The Nichols women's hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to Curry in a road Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle on Friday night at the Canton Ice House in game one of the home-and-home series between the Bison and the Colonels.

Curry's Seneca Urban lit the lamp 12:45 into the first period to put the home team up 1-0. The Colonels would strike twice more in the middle frame to put the Bison in a 3-0 hole heading into the final period of play.

Nichols would not go down without a fight as Kayla Currin found the back of the net with 4:24 to play, giving the Bison some late life.

Grace Wiggett would follow up with a goal of her own on the powerplay just under three minutes later, however, the late offensive surge wouldn't be enough to force the game to an overtime period, giving Curry their third conference victory of the season.

Victoria Bakopanos made 24 saves in the setback.

Nichols and Curry will face off against each other once more this weekend with a Saturday evening matchup at Levy Rink beginning at 4:40 p.m. At the conclusion of the game, the team will host "Skate with the Bison" in which fans will be able to take the ice for some laps with the team.
