CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Nichols men's soccer program shut out Elms College Wednesday night, 2-0, at Leary Field.
The Bison (3-1-0) struck first at 25:22 of the first half on sophomore
William Savage's team-leading third goal of the season, off a feed from senior
Jon Christy.
Savage's three goals and six points tie him for second in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in each category.
The match would remain 1-0 until late in the second half when freshman
Brady Stevenson battled in a scrum in front of the net to put the Bison up by two.
Freshman goalkeeper
Derek Axon recorded his second-straight shutout, lowering his goals against average to .35 and raising his save percentage to .933. Both marks have him in sole possession of second in the CCC.
The Bison continue their road trip on Saturday, September 10, when they head to Rhode Island College for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
