DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols men's soccer team bounced back with a 1-0 victory over MCLA Sunday, September 4 at the MCLA Tournament.
 
Both sides were unable to find the back of the net in the first frame despite several scoring opportunities a side. The Bison compiled four corner kick opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, but were unable to convert the tries into goals.

Nichols goalkeeper Derek Axon notched two saves in the first frame to keep the Trailblazers off the board.
 
Nichols continued its offensive attack in the second half looking to break the deadlock. With over 24 minutes left on the clock, Tristan Phillips rang a shot off the post, ricocheting to the boot of Brady Stevenson who buried the rebound for his first goal of the season in the 67th minute, snapping the tie and giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
 
MCLA threatened to strike in the closing minutes, but Axon stood tall in net to keep his score sheet clean, securing the first road win of the season for the Bison in shutout fashion.
 
Nichols (2-1-0) will turn its attention to to Elms on Wednesday, September 7 for a showdown with the Blazers slated to kickoff at 7 p.m.
