DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols men's soccer program played to a draw against Wentworth Institute of Technology Friday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Soccer Field.
Wentworth (2-5-3, 1-1-1 CCC) opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the half as Raphael Ribeiro's corner kick found TJ Prouty in the front-of-net scrum.
The two teams played even until Nichols (6-3-2, 0-1-2 CCC) freshman
Tristan Phillips was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Phillips' strike made its way past the Leopards goalie for the tying goal with fifteen minutes remaining in the half.
Just under ten minutes into the second half, a set piece on a corner was successful for the Leopards as Augustin Edwin, Jr. was able to redirect Ribeiro's cross in for the lead.
With 37 seconds remaining in the match, sophomore
Nathan Salamon collected a rebound shot by Phillips and sent it to the opposite corner for the tie.
Nichols returns to action Tuesday, October 4, for a 3:00 p.m. matchup against Fitchburg State University. It will be senior day for Nichols as the program will recognize
