CCC RELEASE
BIDDEFORD, Maine – Coming off a 37-33 win against Coast Guard, the Nichols football team saw three of its own named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards list, including
Xavier Powell (Offensive),
Derrick Revolus (Defensive), and
Kyle Yannucci (Special Teams).
Â
Powell helped power the Bison offense to their third victory of the year under center, racking up 296 passing yards and two touchdowns on 26 completions. The junior also got it done with his legs, scoring lone rushing touchdown of the afternoon while accumulating 30 of the team's 131 total rushing yards.
Â
An interception in the endzone as time expired from Revolus marked his third of the contest, and ultimately sealed the deal for Nichols. Along with the pickoffs and a pass breakup, the sophomore was credited with 10 tackles, including seven solo takedowns, to help boost him to second in the conference in tackles per game, with 10.
Â
In his first place-kicking duties of his career, Yannucci came up big for the Bison, scoring 11 points by himself thanks to splitting the uprights on three field goal and two extra point attempts. All three field goals came from 25 yards or longer (26, 25, 27). He also brought down two Bears return-men on kickoff, recording two solo tackles.
Â
Nichols will hit the road for the first time since week one on Saturday with the Bison set to face off against Hartwick in their final non-conference game of the fall. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
