Nichols outmuscles UNE in key CCC contest, 8-5

DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Hunter Ferreira potted four goals to lift the Nichols College men's lacrosse team to an 8-5 win over the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) on Senior Day at Vendetti Field.

Senior Cian Keohane and junior Ryan Warner each netted two goals for the Bison (7-8, 3-3 CCC), who saw sophomore Colby Gillis rack up four assists to break the single season assist record of 42, set by David French in 1975. Senior Conor Santoni dished out two assists while classmate Scott Ehrenberg – who earlier this season became the single-season face-off record holder – won 15-of-16 at the X (.938) and collected seven ground balls.

Nichols held a 45-36 edge in shots and received 16 saves from freshman Brady Morgan, who moved to 7-5 with the win. Sophomore Kyle Ettenhofer registered four ground balls.

Prior to the contest, the Bison honored seniors Keohane, Ferreira, Santoni, Ehrenberg, Joseph Busa, Jarrod Sweeney, Ethan Hopey, and Lejaun Pope for their contributions to the program over the past four seasons.
