Bison deal Golden Bears first CCC loss of 2022

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Kamryn Gurnee-Mims belted her first collegiate grand slam to help the Nichols College softball team rebound from a 10-2 loss in game one of its doubleheader at Western New England University to grab a 10-9 win in 10 innings in the nightcap Sunday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Game One: Golden Bears 10, Bison 2 (5 inn.)
Senior Samantha Kostek and junior Allie Brown each collected two hits for the Bison while freshmen Chloe Steiniger and Erin Gour each picked up an RBI.  

Game Two: Bison 10, Golden Bears 9 (10 inn.)
The Bison rallied from a 7-0 deficit after two innings of play to secure their third CCC win of the season while dealing WNE its first conference loss. Run-scoring hits from Kostek and freshman Felicia Burgos in the sixth preceded Gurnee-Mims round tripper down the right field line moved in front, 8-7. In the 10th, Kostek singled to shortstop to bring in sophomore Felicya Decicco with the game-winning run.  Freshman Chelsea Indyk tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn her second win of 2022.
