CLERMONT, Fla. – The Nichols College softball team picked up their first win of the 2022 campaign with a 9-6 win over Cortland Tuesday afternoon in non-conference softball action at the PFX Spring Games at Legends Ballfields.
Junior
Kamryn Gurnee-Mims and freshman
Erin Gour each drove in two runs for the Bison (1-5), who pounded out a season-high 11 hits. Nichols put up a four-spot in the fourth behind a two-run single from Mims and an RBI single off the bat of junior
Allie Brown. In the sixth, Gour laced a two-run double before freshman
Chloe Steiniger to extend the lead to 9-5 with an RBI single. Junior
Alyssa Ouellette surrendered 11 hits and seven runs (two earned) over seven innings to earn her first win of 2022.
Later in the day, freshman pitcher
Chelsea Indyk fanned six over 6.2 innings of work in a 1-0 loss to Springfield. She allowed six hits and one run to go with three walks, holding the Pride scoreless until two outs in the seventh when they pushed across the winning run. Senior
