Samantha Kostek drove in five runs to help the Nichols College softball team sweep a doubleheader from Elms College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Softball Field.
Game One: Nichols 7, Elms 2
Kostek went 3-for-4 with three RBI – including a two-run single to right-center in the sixth – and sophomore
Jayda Cesar drove in two runs as the Bison scored four times in the sixth to blow the game open. Freshman
Chloe Steiniger picked up two hits and scored twice to back freshman starter
Chelsea Indyk, who struck out nine in 4.1 innings of work to earn her first collegiate victory.
Game Two: Nichols 8, Elms 0 (5 inn.)
Kostek and Steiniger each recorded two RBI while senior starter
Candice Nelson held the Blazers to no runs on three hits over four to record her first win of the season. The Bison (3-5) threw up a four-spot in the third behind RBI doubles from senior
Mackenzie Bourgault and sophomore
Mackenzie Jackson. In the fifth, Kostek's single down the left field line plated junior
Jessica Botelho and freshman
Erin Gour to end the game.
