Taylor's OT winner sends Bison past Lancers

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior captain Rebecca Taylor scored the game-winning goal 54 seconds into overtime to give the Nichols College women's ice hockey team a 4-3 overtime win over Worcester State University Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Junior Lauren Rokala tied the game with 43 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to OT, where Taylor converted a feed from sophomore Megan Buxton into her second goal of the season. The win moves the Bison to 12-7-1 on the season – the best start through 20 games in program history.

Junior netminder Julia Carroll turned aside 27 shots to move to 5-2-0 on the season for Nichols, which also received goals from Buxton and sophomore Grace Melanson, who extended her point streak to five (2-3-5).
