HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Freshman
Nathan Carl scored the game-winning goal with 28 seconds left in regulation to lift the Nichols College's men's ice hockey team to a 2-1 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Levy Rink.
Senior captain
Curtis Carlson scored his team-leading eight goal of the season for the Bison (6-11-1, 5-11-0 CCC), who have now won three-straight overall and nine of the last 12 (9-1-2) against the Leopards. Junior
Korbinian Lutz made 31 saves, including a shorthanded breakaway in the third period to keep the game tied.
Prior to the contest, Nichols honored its five seniors – Carlson,
Lucas Andersson,
Justin Perron,
Noah Poindexter, and
Petr Miko, who assisted on Carlson's marker. Junior
Austan Bellefeuille played catch with Carl on the GWG and was credited with the lone apple on the play.
The Bison closed the contest 0-for-4 with the man advantage while the Leopards went 0-for-2 with the extra attacker.
