Rams sharp-shooting dooms Bison

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's basketball team suffered an 89-83 loss to Suffolk University Monday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Graduate student Matthew Alectus canned four 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 22 points for the Bison (20-3, 13-3 CCC), who saw their nine-game winning streak snapped.  Junior Jakigh Dottin came off the bench to score 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting while senior Jason O'Regan sank four triples and closed the night with 17 points.

Nichols struggled shooting the ball in the first half, making just 12 of its 35 field goal attempts, and trailed by six at the break. The Rams (14-8, 9-7 CCC), meanwhile, canned 47 percent of their looks in the opening stanza and knocked down nearly 50 percent of their looks from downtown (7-of-15).

In the second half, the Rams extended their lead to as many as 14 points on multiple occasions. The Bison climbed to within seven (80-73) following a triple by O'Regan with 1:37 remaining, and then six points with less than one minute remaining. Suffolk then went 8-for-9 from the line in the final 36 seconds to seal the win.

Keenan Robinson led four Suffolk student-athletes in double-figures with 19 points to go with 10 rebounds. The Rams finished the night shooting 50 percent from both the field (31-of-62) and three-point land (13-of-26).
