WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Following a highly contested 6-5 overtime defeat on Friday night at Levy Rink, the Nichols women's hockey team was swept by Western New England on Saturday by a final of 5-1 at the Olympia Ice Center in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
The Golden Bears scored the first two goals of the game, but
Kaci Johnson lit the lamp with 8:05 to play in the second to bring the Bison back within one.
Western New England's offense tacked on three more goals over the remainder of the second period to come away with their third straight victory, their second over Nichols in two nights.
The visitors were outshot, 30-22, as
Julia Carroll mustered 25 saves in goal.
Nichols returns to action on Friday, December 9 in a showdown with Curry in CCC play at 5:40 p.m. at Levy Rink.
