BEVERLY, Mass. –
McKenzie Muir backstopped the Bison defense with a career-high 52 saves in her sixth career start, but Nichols women's ice hockey could only muster one goal in a 3-1 loss to Endicott on Saturday night at the Raymond J. Bourque Ice Arena in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
Nichols broke the scoring open 13:31 into the opening frame when
Kaci Johnson found the back of the net on assists from
Avery Moriarty and
Sarah Zeidan. Just minutes later, the Gulls struck back to even the score up headed into the first intermission.
A scoreless second frame sent both teams into the third deadlocked at 1-1.
Just over halfway into the period, Teaghan Hall beat Muir to give the home team its first lead of the game, one it would hold onto for duration of the contest. Kaylee Liberty added an insurance goal less than three minutes later to seal the deal and give the Gulls their second-straight victory over Nichols in CCC action.
The Bison will look to right the ship in another weekend of CCC hockey beginning next Friday, November 11 at Suffolk, with puck drop slated for 6 p.m. from Porrazzo Rink in East Boston.
