Husson Outlasts Football, 27-14

BANGOR, Maine – Nichols football trailed 21-7 at halftime and could never catch up, as Husson earned a 27-14 victory over the Bison in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday afternoon at the Winkin Sports Complex.

The Eagles hopped in front with just two minutes to play in the first quarter, as Jed Lober reeled in a Nic Visser pass from 23 yards out for the score. The point after was no good, only providing a 6-0 advantage.

Again, it was Husson who found the endzone with just shy of two minutes gone in the second quarter, as Visser found Tyler Thompson for a 76-yard hookup to the house, putting the Eagles in front 13-0.

Tiago Fernandes would rumble in from four yards out for the lone Bison touchdown of the first half with just 2:49 to play, cutting the deficit back to 6.

Husson would strike 1:26 later as Visser connected with a third receiver in the endzone, this time being Dom Wilson from four yards out, giving the hosts a 24-7 lead at the break.

Aaron Paradis converted on a 24 yard field goal try with 4:55 to play in the third to give the Eagles a 17 point cushion.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Xavier Powell threw a perfectly placed ball into the left corner of the enzone from 17 yards out, finding Hunter Ferreira who reeled in the ball to bring the Bison back within ten.

Paradis would once again be true from 24 yards deep just 4:26 later to provide the final points of the game and give Husson it's fourth win in CCC play.

The Bison will wrap up their 2022 campaign on Saturday, November 12 in a CCC matchup with Curry from Vendetti Field at noon as the team honors its senior class.
