Nichols Women's Tennis - Post-Game Comments - Oct. 6 vs. Gordon
DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Thursday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bison advance to 4-3 overall, while improving to 3-2 in conference play.
Nichols jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play, as all three Bison duos came away with wins. Both teams of
Jordan Knowles &
Kelley Carlin and
Tifany Lucart &
Sofia Leonardi earned 8-1 victories over their opponents on third and second courts, respectively. The No. 1 doubles squad of
Antonia Carrero &
Charis Vogler battled hard to earn a 8-5 decision, propelling the Bison into singles competition up three.
Vogler, the reigning CCC Rookie of the Week, made easy work of her opponent on the second court, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory to start things off.
Camila Magrin followed her up with the second straight sweep of the afternoon on the sixth court, clinching the team's third conference win of the fall.
Johanna Schroeder added a nearly perfect performance in a 6-1, 6-0 victory on the third court, before Lucart slammed home a 6-0, 6-2 triumph on court No. 5.
Knowles finished 2-0 on the day thanks to a 6-0, 6-2 conquest on court four, and in the top spot, Carrero fought to a 7-6, 7-5 win in a highly contested battle with Annette Kim.
The Bison will continue CCC play this Saturday, October 8 when they travel to Curry for a 12 p.m. first serve at the "Big Nine" Tennis Courts.
