BOSTON, Mass. – The Nichols women's volleyball team dropped its regular season finale to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe, Suffolk, in straight sets on Saturday afternoon at Smith Court to finish the regular season in seventh place. The Bison fell to the Rams by set scores of 19-25, 17-25, 17-25 to finish 15-10 (3-6 CCC) on the year, marking the most overall and conference wins in a single season.
In the first set, Nichols trailed by as little as two at 19-17, but the Rams rallied to take a set one lead as McKenna Keowan's fourth kill put the Rams in front, 1-0.
Jayleen Fegan's three kills in the second set were not enough as Suffolk won convincingly, 25-17.
11 kills and four aces for the Rams in set three helped them secure the sweep.
Kya Burdier led the Bison in assists (22) and digs (11) in the loss, while Fegan's seven kills was a team best as she hit at a .353 clip.
Nichols will now turn its attention to the CCC Tournament, where it will travel to No. 2 Endicott in a quarterfinals match with the Gulls on Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m. at MacDonald Gymnasium.
