NEWPORT, R.I. – Nichols football fell to Salve Regina, 42-21, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup Saturday afternoon at Toppa Field. With the setback, the Bison fall to 3-5 on the year and are still in search of their first conference victory. Salve Regina advanced to a 5-2 overall record.
 
The Seahawks got out in front just 46 seconds into the game when Jake Stack found Max Devito for a 17-yard receiving touchdown. The hosts would add to their lead with two more scores before Nichols would get on the board.
 
The Bison found the endzone with 7:09 remaining in the half when 
Xavier Powell rumbled in for a one-yard score to cut the Salve Regina lead to 21-7.
 
Stack and Devito would combine for their second touchdown of the half with under two minutes to play, giving the Seahawks a 28-7 advantage as both teams headed to the locker room.
 
Both sides would score two touchdowns apiece in the second half as Salve Regina held on for a 42-21 victory, its second win in CCC play.
 
Nichols put up 335 yards of total offense in the loss, with Powell providing 225 through the air.
 
The Bison head into the bye week and will prepare for a road matchup with Husson on Saturday, November 5 at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex, with kickoff set for 12 p..m.
