Bison Right the Ship Against Fighting Scots

Nichols Men's Soccer - Post-Game Comments - Oct. 18 vs. Gordon

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols men's soccer program defeated Gordon College Tuesday afternoon, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field.

The Bison (8-6-3, 1-3-3 CCC) got on the board first with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Sophomore Nicholas De Paula played in a free kick from midfield to senior Nikolas Padilla, who was able to find freshman Aidan Ferguson further down the field. Ferguson, after beating his defender, sent the ball back to Padilla, who found the back of the net.

Gordon's (4-8-3, 3-4-0 CCC) top scoring chance on the afternoon came with four minutes remaining in the second half that was turned away by sophomore netminder Franco Barreto Santana.

With the win, the Bison improve to 1-3-3 in the CCC with six points. With two matches remaining, the Bison are now tied with Curry College for the seventh spot in the playoffs.

Nichols will look to move up in the CCC standings Saturday, October 22, at home against the University of New England at 12:00 p.m. on the Nichols Soccer Field.
