DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols men's tennis team fell to Division II opponent Bentley by a final of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Robinson tennis courts. The Bison fell to 1-3 on the season with the setback.
The match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I/II rules which only award one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of three equals one point). This contrasts with NCAA Division III rules which award one point for each doubles flight won by a team.
The Bison recorded their two points via singles wins on courts five and six.
Caio Dieckmann got Nichols on the board, battling to a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory on the sixth court before
Yannick De Vet fought for a 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 triumph in court No. 5 play.
Nichols will return to action on Sunday, October 23 in a road test at Coast Guard, with first serve slated for 1 p.m. in New London.
