BRISTOL, R.I. – Graduate student
Matt Alectus dropped in a career-high 28 points in Nichols College's 96-86 win over Roger Williams University Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Campus Rec Center.
Freshman
Tahmeen Dupree filled the stat sheet with 19 points, nine dimes, and six rebounds while junior and reigning D3hoops.com Team of the Week pick
Jakigh Dottin picked up 20 points, nine boards, and three assists. Nichols shot 53 percent from the field – including 53 percent from downtown (12-of-23) – to improve to 14-2 on the season (7-2 CCC).
The Bison went ahead for good midway through the second half on a jumper by Dupree with 9:24 remaining in the second half. Less than a minute later, he converted a three-point play to stretch the lead to four (69-65) before burying a triple to make it 72-65.
The Hawks (9-6, 6-4 CCC) cut their deficit to two with 5:30 to go, but back-to-back layups from Alectus and Dupree, followed by a triple from senior
Jaekwon Spencer, helped put the game away.
