EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Junior Mackenzie Doran scored the first goal of the season for the Nichols College field hockey team in their 3-0 win over Bridgewater State Wednesday night at Swenson Field.

Junior Abigail Karalus and freshman Ryan Mellor each scored their first collegiate goals for the Bison (1-0), who outshot the Bears 16-6. Freshman goalie Sophia Venable turned aside all six shots she faced to earn her first collegiate shutout.

The win was the first at Nichols for veteran head coach Laura-Ann Lane, who assumed the head coaching duties during the summer of 2020.
