BRISTOL, R.I. – The Nichols College women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Western New England University on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
The Bison began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Junior
Kara Stankewitz and freshman
Kelley Carlin were 8-1 winners at No. 1, sophomore
IsaBella Winter and freshman
Jordan Knowles scored an 8-6 win at No. 2, and seniors
Juliana Herrera and
Amanda Costa were 8-2 winners at No. 3.
Winter was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles while Stankewitz was nearly perfect at No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Herrera notched a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles while Carlin (4-6, 6-0, 10-3) and Knowles (3-6, 6-4, 10-4) each won in three sets. Costa registered a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
