Hailey Bogusz smacked her first collegiate home run over the right field wall to help the Nichols College softball team earn a split of its doubleheader with Curry College Friday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Softball Field.
Game One: Colonels 7, Bison 5

Hailey Bogusz went 2-for-4 with two RBI and both senior

Samantha Kostek each collected two hits for the Bison. Trailing 5-0 entering the third, RBI singles from Callahan and Bogusz made it a 5-3 game. Later, an RBI double by Bogusz and a sac fly off the bat of junior
Mackenzie Bourgault brought the Bison to within two runs at 7-5. Sophomore
Alyssa Ouellette surrendered eight hits and seven runs (four earned) over seven as she suffered just her second loss of the season. She walked one and fanned three.
Game Two: Bison 8, Colonels 7
Bogusz finished the contest 2-for-3 with three RBI – highlighted by her round-tripper in the fifth that tied the game at seven. Bourgault went 2-for-2 and scored twice, including the game-winning run on an error in the sixth while both graduate student
Amanda Alioto and sophomore
Allie Brown had an RBI double. Junior
Candice Nelson allowed seven unearned runs on 10 hits and stuck out four to move to 5-4 on the season.
