Jayda Cesar drove in four runs to help the Nichols College softball team earn a split of its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader with Gordon College Saturday afternoon.
Game One – Fighting Scots 6, Bison 3
Graduate student
Alexandria Rodi had two hits for the Bison while classmate
Katrina Valeri and Cesar each plated one run. Junior
Candice Nelson surrendered seven hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings. She walked five and struck out three.
Game Two – Bison 7, Fighting Scots 5
Cesar had a two-run single in the first and the go-ahead two-run double in the seventh to give NC a split. Senior
Colleen Callahan laced an RBI double earlier in the seventh that tied the game at five, and she finished with two runs scored. Junior
Samantha Kostek finished the contest 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Rodi and graduate student
Taylor Commesso each had one RBI. Sophomore
Alyssa Ouellette moved to 5-1 on the year as she gave up eight hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts over seven innings.
