Rams too much for Bison in women's hoops opener

Sophomore Leandra Ortiz scored 15 points in Nichols College's 101-46 loss to Suffolk University Friday night in the women's basketball season-opener for both programs at Larry E. Smith and Michael S. Smith Court.

Freshman Summer Klein netted nine points and eight rebounds in her collegiate debut for the Bison (0-1) while senior Isabella Nerney knocked down a pair of triples and finished with eight points. Classmate Shannon St. Lawrence picked up six rebounds and five points.

The Rams shot 46 percent from the field and outrebounded NC 57-37 on the evening. Junior Allie Lopes led eight student-athletes in double figures with 17 points while Jenni-Rose DeCecco filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds.
