Graduate student and four-time Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Champion Jerome Cunningham collected 12 points and six rebounds in his first contest in more than a year for the Nichols College men's basketball team, which suffered a 97-84 defeat to Suffolk University Friday night in the season-opener for both at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The Westbury, N.Y. native also notched four dimes and one block in 26 minutes of action after missing all but one game last season due to injury. Senior Matt Morrow netted 16 points to go with seven boards and four assists while junior Elijah Lewis scored 19 points (7-of-12 FG) in his collegiate debut. Sophomore Junior Uga, meanwhile, scored a career-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting for Nichols (0-1).

Senior Nate Hale led all student-athletes with 34 points, canning six 3-pointers in 35 minutes of play. Classmate Brendan Mulson filled the stat sheet with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals for the Rams (1-0), who shot 41 percent from downtown (14-of-31) and committed just seven turnovers.
