Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

McAleer's hat trick propels Bison past Knights, 9-0

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Graduate student Mel McAleer scored her second collegiate hat trick in Nichols College's 9-0 win over Neumman University Saturday night in non-conference women's ice hockey at Levy Rink.

McAleer – who collected three assists last night – now has six points in two games this season (3-3-6) and is five points behind Grace Murphy '15 for the school record (83). Sophomore Madison Manser potted her first two collegiate goals and added an assist while junior Jessica Gossas-Moberg netted also scored twice.

That was more than enough support for freshman netminder Victoria Bakopanos, who stopped all 16 shots she faced to earn both her first collegiate win and shutout.

Nichols is now 2-0-0 for the second time in program history and first time since 2014-15, when they swept a season-opening series at Levy Rink against Stevenson University. Additionally, the nine goals ties the program record set at Plymouth State on January 22, 2010.
