The Nichols College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to MIT 13-7 Monday morning at the NC Baseball Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.
The Engineers (2-1) slugged eight homeruns in the contest, including four alone from Matt Johnston, who went 5-for-6 on the day, including eight RBIs, and four runs scored. Backstop Andrew Krause slugged a pair of homers himself, picking up two RBI along the way as well. MIT also saw student-athletes Nick Aiello and Thomas Allison hit a homerun as well.
The Bison (3-2) were led by senior
Kyle Bouchard who was 2-for-4 at the dish and slugged a ninth inning three-run homer that brought the Bison within six of the Engineers (13-7). Sophomore
DJ Caron led the team with three hits on the day, while also picking up three runs scored. Nichols pitchers gave up 12 earned runs on the day with the only clean slate coming from junior
Robert Cobb, who pitched the last two outs of ninth inning, giving up a hit and striking out two.
