Sophomore
Hunter Ferreira notched six goals as the Nichols College men's lacrosse team lost to Anna Maria 16-12 in non-conference action Tuesday night at Caparso Field in Paxton, Massachusetts.
The Bison (1-3) saw Ferreira score two of his six goals in the first half, including one with 3:47 left in the half to tie the game at five apiece going into the break. The Bison scored twice to open the second half, giving them a 7-5 lead with goals from junior
Brendan Coates and Ferreira. Anna Maria (2-2) responded by ripping off four straight goals, including three from Brandon Pavoni and one from Zion Mercado.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the AMCats ripped off four more unanswered goals extending their lead to 14-8 with just 5:20 to play in the game. Nichols responded with goals from sophomore's
Jarrod Sweeney and
Ethan Hopey, and two more from Ferreira but it was too little to late. AMC mixed in two more goals in the final five minutes to cap off the 16-12 upset of Nichols.

-The Bison saw five student-athletes score multiple points: Ferreira (6-0-6), Coates (1-3-4), sophomore

Ryan Warner (1-1-2), and Sweeney (1-1-2).
-The Bison outshot the AMCats 47-43 in the loss.
-Today's game marked the 12th all-time meeting between the two programs. Despite the loss the Bison still lead the all-time series with a record of 9-3.
