Freshman
Alexis Finnerty scored a team-high 25-points as the Nichols College women's basketball team lost to Salve Regina 84-82 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center in Dudley, Massachusetts.
The Bison were led by Finnerty who shot 7-of-11 from the field, including 50% from downtown to go along with her three boards. Senior
Ciarri Formby-Lavertu scored a season-high 14 points for the Bison, narrowly missing out on a double-double with eight rebounds. Junior

Leandra Ortiz (10) both scored in double figures for Nichols.
The Seahawks saw Torie Scorpio pour in a game-high 30 points (8-of-19 FG), filling the stat sheet with six assists and seven boards as well. Mary Rorke (13) and Morgan Shuey (13) were the other two Seahawks to score in double figures, Rorke also added seven boards. The Bison who scored only 40 points going into the fourth quarter exploded for 42 points in the final frame.
Nichols was down by as many as 17 points with six minutes left in the game. With 53 seconds left the Seahawks took a commanding nine point lead after a layup from Lauren Wilmot, and a free throw. Nichols went on to hit three shots from downtown in the final 36 seconds to bring the deficit to just two points with three seconds left. The Seahawks were able to fend off the late threes from Ortiz, Nerney and Finnerty and take the conference win by the narrow two point margin.

-This was Finnerty's fifth game with 20+ points this season.
-Formby-Lavertu's 14-points was the second most she has ever scored in a game.
-Freshman
Leandra Ortiz recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Her 10 assists in the game is tied for fourth all-time for assists in a game for the Bison.
