The Nichols College women's hockey team tied Salve Regina 2-2 in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday evening in Middletown, Rhode Island.
The Seahawks scored first with a goal at the 11:00 minute mark in the first period from Maddy McCann, and helpers from Emma Gotthelf and Nicole Schneiders. Salve kept the 1-0 lead until they scored a power-play goal in the second period from Maddie Cox, to give the Seahawks a comfortable 2-0 lead.
However, the Bison came storming back with a goal of their own seven minutes later from sophomore
Kara Santoro, her second of the season. Nichols went on to tie the game at 2-2 just a minute into the third period, when junior
Mel McAleer notched her team leading 12th goal of the season, with a helper from sophomore
Alicia Hunks. Nichols and Salve battled it out for 19 more minutes with the score tied and ultimately the game ended with the score knotted at two apiece.
