Bison pick up weekend sweep with win

Freshman Kayla Currin notched a goal and an assist in Nichols College's 3-1 victory over Becker College in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) women's hockey action Saturday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Nichols got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first six minutes of play with goals from sophomore Alicia Hunks and Sophomore Sydney Royce. Hunks opened up the scoring with a goal just 2:04 in the game with helpers from Currin and classmate Kaci Johnson. Three minutes later Royce notched her first collegiate goal to make the score 2-0 Bison.

Currin opened up the second period with a quick goal just 2:50 in to propel the Bison to a 3-0 lead which they held for most of the second period. The Hawks scored their lone goal with 45 seconds left in the second period with a goal from Olivia Dupree to cut into the Bison's lead. Nichols went on to kill three penalties in the third period as they hung on to take the weekend sweep of the Hawks.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Three other Bison picked up assists in the game: Nicole Cowan, Ashley Ljunggren, and McKenna Gernander.
-Currin has now scored four points in her last four games on three goals and an assist.
-Freshman netminder Julia Carroll improved to 3-2-1 on the season after picking up two wins this weekend.
