Nor'easters fend off Bison

Junior Isabella Nerney scored 11-points as the Nichols College women's basketball team fell to the University of New England 72-51 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Nerney shot 4-of-13 and drained two three-pointers for the Bison, while also picking up three boards and three assists. Senior Ciarri Formby-Lavertu scored nine points for Nichols while also hitting the lone three pointer she attempted to go along with four boards and two assists. Freshman Leandra Ortiz hit three shots from beyond the arc as she scored nine points for the Bison.

The Nor'easters were led by Ashley Coneys who recorded a double-double with a game-high 20-points and 13 rebounds, while also leading her team with two steaks. Sadie Nelson (13 points) and Abby Cavallaro (11 points) both scored in double figures as well for UNE as the first place Nor'easters grabbed the conference win.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Ortiz tied a career-high with nine points in today's game, a feat she has done three times this season.
-Junior Shannon St. Lawrence snagged team-high eight boards for Nichols.
-Today's game marked the 33rd all-time meeting between the two programs.
