Bison down Pride, upended by Leopards

The Nichols College men's volleyball team splits its tri-match at Wentworth on Saturday afternoon, defeating Regis (MA) College 3-0 before falling to No. 15 Wentworth 3-0 in non-conference men's volleyball action at the Nelson Recreation Center in Boston, Mass.
 
Sophomores Ray Wang and Lance Law each tallied nine kills against the Pride as the Bison (3-3) won game one 25-19, game two 25-12, and game three 25-17. Senior Kevin Keohane and freshman Nicholas Basco handed out 13 assists apiece while sophomore Sean Jackson had four blocks. Nichols posted an outstanding hitting percentage of .373 against Regis (MA) and collected five service aces, three of which came from Wang.
 
Against the Leopards, Wang notched 11 kills and six digs while Law racked up 10 kills and three digs. Keohane and Basco combined for 23 assists while Law also picked up two blocks. Wentworth won game one 25-22, game two 25-23, and game three 25-13.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Today's match marked the second all-time meeting between Nichols and Regis (MA), and the inaugural between Nichols and Wentworth. The Bison now lead the series with the Pride, 2-0, while the Leopards hold a 1-0 lead over the Bison.
            -Wang is currently third in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) in kills/set at 3.43 and boasts a league-leading 16 service aces.
            -Senior Oscar Chavez is second in the NECC in digs/set (2.76) while Keohane is fifth in assists/set (5.62).
