Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Carlson Mangone score twice in win over Leopards

Recap
Senior Nicholas Mangone and sophomore Curtis Carlson each scored twice in Nichols College's 4-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey action at Levy Rink in Harrisville, R.I.

Sophomore Petr Miko dished out a pair of apples as the Bison (7-11-0, 4-7-0 CCC) ran their win streak to six. Junior Nate Foster, sophomores Lucas Andersson and Frank Zak, and freshman Hunter Fraser also collected assists for Nichols, which outshot the Leopards 32-27.

Senior Adam Tracey and sophomore Jake McKennelley potted goals for the Leopards (6-11-1, 2-8-1 CCC), who held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the first and second periods, respectively. Wentworth was 1-for-2 with the man advantage but allowed the game-winning goal after being accessed a five-minute major for cross checking late in the second period.

Three things you need to know...
-Tonight's contest marked the 45th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Bison are 7-0-1 in the last seven and lead the series, 25-18-2.
-Sophomore Matt Efros stopped 25 shots to move to 5-3-0 on the season. Freshman Connor Carbo turned aside 28 shots for WIT and moved to 1-2-0.
-Carlson is riding a four-game point streak which has seen him accumulate 10 points (6-4-10). Over his last eight games, the Lakewood, N.Y. native has amassed nine goals and eight assists.

Quote
"This was a gutsy win by our group. We were led by two senior warriors in Nick Mangone and David Chevrier. Their courage shot blocking late in the game is the reason we held that one-goal lead and showed why they are leaders. They carried us tonight." -Nichols head coach Parker Burgess
