The Nichols College women's basketball team lost to Salve Regina 76-63 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday night in Newport, Rhode Island.
The Bison (4-12, 2-6 CCC) were led by freshman
Alexis Finnerty and
Gina Parmenter who both scored a team-high 17 points in the contest. Finnerty shot 4-of-13 from the field while dishing out five assists and grabbing four boards for Nichols. Parmenter shot 7-of-19 from the the field, including two treys while grabbing four boards and picking up two steals in the game. Junior
Shannon St. Lawrence scored a season-high 15 points for the Bison while also picking up a team-high six rebounds.
The Seahawks were led by Torie Scorpio who had a monster game scoring a game-high 24 points (7-of-18 FG) while also grabbing 16 boards to record the double-double, to go along with three assists and five steals. Mary Rorke was second for the Salve with 19 points (6-of-14 FG), including three from behind the arc, while also dishing out a game-high eight assists as the Seahawks took the conference win.
Three things you need to know…
-St. Lawrence's 15 points tonight was the second-most she has scored in a game for her career. The most being 18 points against Wentworth her freshman year.
-Parmenter's 17 points was the most she has scored in a game this season.
-Tonight's game marked the 53rd all-time meeting between the two programs. The Seahawks snapped a two-game skid to the Bison with tonight's win.
