DeAnte Bruton became the fourth student-athlete in Nichols College men's basketball program history to reach the 2,000-point mark in a 96-80 loss to Western New England University Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action in Springfield, Mass.
Bruton finished with 31 points (10-of-22 FG) and also snared seven rebounds in 38 minutes of action. Junior
Nate Tenaglia was the only other Bison (10-5, 5-1 CCC) in double-figures with 10 points as NC saw its three-game win streak snapped. The Bison struggled from behind the arc, sinking just nine of their 33 attempts (27 percent) while the Golden Bears canned 46 percent of their three-point attempts (12-of-26) and shot 55 percent for the game.
Zach Tavitian led four WNE student-athletes in double figures with 26 points to go with 12 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Tim Reilly added 21 points while Alex Sikorski chipped in with 18 points (9-of-9 FT.

-Tonight's contest marked the 42nd all-time meeting between Nichols College and Western New England University. The loss snapped the Bison's five-game winning streak over the Golden Bears, but they still lead the series, 29-15.
-Bruton trails only
Marcos Echevarria (2,519 points), Ryan Sheehan (2,106), and Billy Collins (2,014), whom Bruton would pass with five points in his next game.
