The Nichols College women's hockey team lost to Castleton University 3-0 in non-conference action Friday evening at Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
The Spartans (9-7-0) got on the board with two goals in the final two minutes of the first period to break the game wide open going into the first break. Casey Traill made it 1-0 after an unassisted goal at the 18:01 mark in the first period before Nicolle Trivino made it 2-0 just a minute later with assists from Ali Stevens and Courtney Gauthier.
The Bison (2-9-2) were unable to find the back of the net despite outshooting the Spartans 35-27 in the game, led by 11 shots from junior
Mel McAleer. Midway through the third period the Spartans added an insurance goal from Maeghan Vasile to make it 3-0 Castleton and secure the win.
