The Nichols College women's hockey team tied Castleton University 1-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

The Bison and Spartans were scoreless until just over four minutes into the second period when junior Jordyn McGuire netted her second goal of the season off a deflection that came from fellow classmate Mel McAleer. Junior Kara Santoro also picked up an assist on the goal. Midway through the third period the Spartans fired back with a goal from Kaitlin Bardellini, her second of the season off a deflection from Samantha Munroe. Maeghan Vasile was credited with the secondary assist on the goal.

Castleton had a 5-on-3 opportunity midway through the third period after sophomore Alicia Hunks and McAleer picked up penalties. The Bison were able to kill of the penalty to keep the score knotted at one goal apiece. The Bison and Spartans battled for five minutes of OT play, the Bison had a power-play opportunity in the OT period but were unsuccessful as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

-The Bison honored Sandi Welch, the founder of Circle Camps with a pre-game ceremony.
-The Bison outshot the Spartans 53-33 in the game.
-Today's game marked the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs.
