Lizz McKinnon each scored twice as the Nichols College field hockey team picked up its first win of 2019 with a 6-3 triumph over Clark (MA) University Tuesday night in non-conference action at Granger Field.

Nichols led 2-0 after one period behind goals from Kelly and freshman
Mackenzie Doran – the first of her collegiate career. Kelley scored the only goal of the second as the Bison took a 3-0 lead into the break, scoring on three of their eight shots in the opening half.

Later, McKinnon and juniorÂ
Carlee Tolley traded goals with the Cougars to make it a 5-2 contest in the fourth before McKinnon's second of the night early in the fourth extended the NC lead to 6-2.

Three things you need to know...
            -Tonight's contest marked the 47th all-time meeting between Clark (MA) University and Nichols College. The Bison snapped a four-game losing skid and earned their 10th win in the series.
            -McKinnon's two-goal effort was the fourth of her career; she recorded three hat tricks in 2018. Kelley, meanwhile, recorded two 2-goal efforts last season and now has four in her career as well.

Brooke Misbach stopped seven shots for the Bison to record the win.
