Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Bison tame Cougars on the road

Recap
Senior Erin Kelley and junior Lizz McKinnon each scored twice as the Nichols College field hockey team picked up its first win of 2019 with a 6-3 triumph over Clark (MA) University Tuesday night in non-conference action at Granger Field.

Nichols led 2-0 after one period behind goals from Kelly and freshman Mackenzie Doran – the first of her collegiate career. Kelley scored the only goal of the second as the Bison took a 3-0 lead into the break, scoring on three of their eight shots in the opening half.

Later, McKinnon and junior Carlee Tolley traded goals with the Cougars to make it a 5-2 contest in the fourth before McKinnon's second of the night early in the fourth extended the NC lead to 6-2.

Three things you need to know...
-Tonight's contest marked the 47th all-time meeting between Clark (MA) University and Nichols College. The Bison snapped a four-game losing skid and earned their 10th win in the series.
-McKinnon's two-goal effort was the fourth of her career; she recorded three hat tricks in 2018. Kelley, meanwhile, recorded two 2-goal efforts last season and now has four in her career as well.
-Senior Brooke Misbach stopped seven shots for the Bison to record the win.
