The Nichols College women's soccer team fell to the University of Saint Joseph 4-1 Sunday afternoon on at Vendetti Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.
The Blue Jays (2-0-0) opened up the scoring early with goals from Maxine Muscatello and Ali O'Neil in the first half. Muscatello scored twice in the first 15 minutes of play with assists from Olivia Belcourt and O'Neil to help the Blue Jays jump out to an early 2-0 lead. O'Neil then found the back of the net in the 19th minute in the first half to help Saint Joseph extend their lead to three goals.
The Bison (1-1-0) Â got on the board in the 37th minute after sophomore
Amalia Sessoms scored on a free kick from 20 yards out, directly after Blue Jays goalie Lindsey Montminy received a red card after taking out Sessoms on a breakaway attempt. The Blue Jays then scored there fourth goal in the 62nd minute from Rylee Snow. Graduate Student
Meghan Dunn and Sessoms both had team highs in shots taken with four in the game, while sophomore goalie
Olivia Marcantonio made a game high six saves.
