Bison shutout Blazers on the road

Recap
The Nichols College women's soccer team defeated Elms College 2-0 in a non-conference match at Leary Field in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Nichols graduate student Meghan Dunn assisted on both of the Bison's goals in the contest while sophomore Amalia Sessoms scored her second goal of the season in the 55th minute, which ended up being the game winner for the Bison. Freshman Niah Samboy also scored for the Bison in the 67th minute, a goal which marked her first collegiate points.

Nichols sophomore goalie Olivia Marcantonio recorded 13 saves en-route to her second shutout of the season, helping the Bison improve to 2-1 on the young season. Dunn and Samboy led the way for the Bison with three shots apiece in the winning effort.

Quote
"What a great team win. We had lots of different contributors today, through the midfield and forward positions to help keep the pressure on and work hard for the full 90 minutes. We battled, we worked hard, and we never gave up. We controlled the ball well from the backs all the way up the forwards.  Our combination play and switching of the field was a huge asset for us today. Amalia scored the first goal with an assist from Meg Dunn and Niah scored the second goal with an assist again from Meg Dunn. Our backline did a great job managing the pressure and attack from Elms, with a lineup of Emma, Hallie, Lex, and Nicole. We can't wait to get back after it at home on Saturday against Smith at 12PM!" - Nichols head coach Karen Gurnon
