Senior MacKenzie McDonald recorded a pair of defensive saves in Nichols College's 3-0 loss to WPI in non-conference field hockey action Friday night in the season opener for both teams at Vendetti Field.
 
Junior Abby O'Sullivan scored a pair of goals and registered an assist for the Engineers (1-0) while senior Bridget Sullivan also found the back of the cage. Freshman Ali Gannon turned aside four shots.
 
Freshman Mackenzie Doran led the Bison (0-1) with four shots while senior Brooke Misbach stopped nine shots.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Tonight's contest marked the 41st all-time meeting between WPI and Nichols. With the win, the Engineers extended their win streak against the Bison to three and now lead the series, 27-14.
            -The Engineers outshot the Bison 18-9 – including 11-4 through the first 30 minutes.
            -This was the first-ever contest for both programs since the NCAA shifted to the international format of four 15-minute quarters.
